Races/How to Apply

When creating a character, please make a new topic and post your character's name (This should also be your username) and race for the title and in the post fill out one of the following application forms.

There are 9 specified races that are playable, however they are divided into the Upperworld or the Underworld, with the exception of Elves being able to choose.

They are as follows:

*Any inappropriate areas of the body need to be covered at all times when it comes to appearance. This goes for all races.

Human


Humans are uniquely adept at utilizing systems of communication for self-expression, the exchange of ideas, and organization. Humans create complex social structures composed of many cooperating and competing groups, from families and kinship networks, to nations. Social interactions between humans have established an extremely wide variety of values, social norms, and rituals, which together form the basis of human society. Humans are noted for their desire to understand and influence their environment, seeking to explain and manipulate phenomena through science, philosophy, mythology, and religion.

Notes:
- Humans are veiwed as inferior to nearly every other race, however they believe themselves to be the higher race in the social order.


Centaur


The centaur is a mythological creature. Its head, arms, and chest are those of a human and the rest of its body, including four legs, hindquarters, and a tail is like that of a horse. While Centaurs are notorious for being vicious towards humans, they have calmed down somewhat and now most view them with indifference. Centaurs are highly resistant to poisoning and charm
based magics, but suffer additional hardships from extreme cold. Centaurs are very strong and hearty, but are less dexterous than most bipeds.

Notes:
- A bow is most often a Centaur's choice of weapon, but it doesn't have to be.
- Centaurs love large open spaces compared to small, enclosed areas

Minotaur


Minotaurs are large bull-headed humanoids known for their remarkable strength and constitution. They are highly resistant to both diseases and poisons, but suffer a vulnerability to acid-based attacks. Minotuars, due to their strength and constitution make great warriors, but, because of their low wisdom and hot headedness make lousy clerics. All minotaurs are skilled in the tactic of bashing, and due to their great strength, cause more damage in combat.

- Minotaurs are known for being brash or rude, though not always.
- Minotaurs take pride in their strength and skills.
- Females can, under no circumstance, have udders.

Satyr


In Greek mythology, satyrs were half-man, half-beast creatures that lived in forests and hills. Usually pictured as human above the waist and as horse or goat below the waist, satyrs had pointed ears or horns on their heads. They often do not get involved in conflicts, but defend those they believe to be right. Satyrs love nature and music with a burning passion.

- Satyrs must have an instrument of some sort (pan flute, lute, ocarina, etc…)
- Females have the options of having horns or not
- Satyrs tend to be pacifists.

Gorgon


According to legend, Gorgons are women or men that have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake or serpent, with the exception of their hair being made of live snakes. They can sometimes have huge wings, sharp fangs and claws, orbodies covered with dragonlike scales, in some cases they could have several arms. They had horrible grins, staring eyes, and writhing snakes for hair. Their gaze is so terrifying that anyone who looked upon them immediately turned to stone.

Notes:
- Gorgons tend to be very spiteful or bitter to others besides their own race
- Gorgons can speak to snakes or sea serpents.
- Gorgons like areas with water over anything else.

Siren


Sirens are women (or men) that are comprised of the upper body of a woman (or man) and the tail of a fish. Sirens live near or in rocky waters in the middle of the sea. Sirens sing melodies so beautiful that sailors passing by couldn't resist getting closer to them. Following the sound of music, the sailors would steer their boats towards them or jump in the water to get closer. Either way, it always ended in disaster on the rocks. Some Sirens are known to be maidens who were brought back from a watery grave, questing for revenge against whatever or whoever sent them to their early grave, others are simply known to be naturally born.

Notes:
- Sirens are often friends with many creatures of the sea
- Sirens can change their bodies into that of a humans whenever they like, though they will need to frequently drink or bathe their bodies in water to prevent becoming quickly dehydrated.

Elf


Many years ago, the Elves of Paraithia were once a single group that lived together off of the same cultures and traditions as any other race. However, there rose a single individual amoung the people that believed in a betterment of society. He caused chaos throughtout the group and eventually sides were claimed. The group was split and those that followed him were banished. The first group became the elves of the Upperworld, the second became the Underworld.

Elves of the Upperworld have naturally lighter skin and are purer of heart. They have wisdom and skill in the ways of the arcane magic. They are also acceptional hunters. These Elves have come to be known as High Elves. They tend to be the kinder of the two elf groups, though they are extremely intolerant to their counterparts, and prefer sunlight over darkness.

Elves of the Underworld have naturally darker skin and rarely believe in anything other than personal gain. They have come to be known as Dark Elves. They thrive on deceit and slyness. As they grew appart from their once conjoined clan, they trained in dark magic and nimble use of weapons. They are masters of stealth and trickery and prefer darkness to daylight. They are not considered extremely kind, but they despise their couterparts with a bitter passion.

Notes:
- All elves are known for being a force to be reckoned with.
- Elves are known to have longer lifespans than most other races, meaning they keep their youth longer. Adulthood is reached around age 110.

Harpy


Harpies are creatures of the Under-World. They are typically women that are fused with bird like features. Many harpies use their bodies to attract men and kill them. They are cold hearted creatures that are strong with the element of fire. The males of the species are unique, for their bodies aren't fully merged, many still have arms as the females do not. many times they are mistaken as an angel. Harpies now have increased their intelligence and have adapted their traits as seductresses luring men with their voice, similiar to that of Sirens.

Notes:
- Harpies are normally short tempered, but they can have a kind side.
- Harpies normally travel in flocks to new areas, it is rare to see a Harpy travel to new territory with out her family.
- Hapries are known for their abilites to throw fireballs.

Nymph


Nymphs are the closest relatives to that of the Elves. The Nymph is typically a woman made of the elements. Similar to the Golems of old, but they are living creatures. The ability to combine with the elements allow the nymphs to be masters at stealth. The Nymph is also known for their sexual cravings, many times releasing all restraints on any male.
